01 / THE TREATMENT

What is skin blemish removal?

Skin blemish removal uses a very fine probe and a small electrical current to treat minor skin blemishes. It is sometimes called advanced electrolysis. Common treatments include:

  • Skin tags

  • Milia (small white spots)

  • Thread veins on the face

  • Campbell de Morgan spots (small red spots)

  • Some types of warts and age spots

Every client needs a proper consultation first. Some marks must be checked by a GP before you treat them, and a good course teaches you how to tell the difference.

Every client needs a proper consultation first. Knowing what not to treat is part of the skill.

02 / THE QUALIFICATION

What level of training do you need?

Skin blemish removal goes further than standard electrolysis for hair removal, so it is trained at a higher level. One London council that licenses these treatments asks for training equivalent to Level 4 for advanced electrolysis.

Rules vary across England. In London you will need a special treatment licence from your council. Outside London, check with your local council. Your insurer will also want to see a recognised qualification.

03 / THE COURSE

What will you learn?

  • How the skin is built, and how each blemish forms

  • Which blemishes you can treat, and which need a GP first

  • Consultation, consent and contraindications

  • Safe use of the equipment and correct settings

  • Aftercare, healing and what to do if there is a reaction
