Emalene Grove is the Founder of YOU.
Emalene Grove does not talk about 30 years because it is impressive. She talks about it because it is the evidence underneath everything she has built.
Every framework she now teaches has been tested against those decades. Not against a theory. Against a market that has changed underneath her own clinics, more than once, while she had to keep them running.
She started where most operators start. A mobile business. Long hours. A diary that needed filling. She built that mobile business into a salon, the salon into an award-winning clinic in Billericay, and the clinic into a second location in Portugal. The team grew. The treatments grew. The standards grew. Along the way she made every mistake worth making and built systems out of each one.
Across the same three decades, she has been brought in to build at the top of the market. She launched a Thai spa brand inside Harrods end to end, the manufacture, the protocols, the training, the rooms, the floor. She built a five star spa inside a gold rated resort in Northern Ireland from architectural plan upward; a decade on, it is still running with the system she put in. She held the floor at the Thai Square Group flagship in Covent Garden. She has built product lines into UK retail and onto Amazon and consulted to one of Europe's leading longevity destinations on operations and the launch of their in house aesthetic clinic.
The aesthetic sector is full of people with one credential. A clinic owner. A trainer. A consultant. A brand builder. A distributor. Emalene has done all of them. The work she teaches comes from having stood in every one of those rooms.
She saw it coming in 2017
Seven years ago Emalene saw where the industry was heading. Standards were dropping. CPD was replacing regulated qualifications. Treatments were growing more complex while the qualification ceiling stayed at Level 3. Serious operators were being lumped in with weekend-course practitioners. The professional bodies that should have stepped in did not. The regulators arrived a decade too late.
She waited too. For three years she assumed someone with more authority than her would build what the sector needed. Then she built it herself.
Fifty OFQUAL regulated qualifications. A portal any clinic can plug into overnight, operating under full VTCT and CIBTAC accreditation. A Level 5 teacher training pathway, addressing the shortage of qualified teachers the legislation will expose. The Elite 500 the movement of regulated professionals reshaping the industry. I started with a mobile business, working long hours, chasing clients, and trying to stay one step ahead. Over time, I built that into an international brand, with salons across the UK and Portugal, but the pressure never really goes away.
